Top 10s from the New Yorker, New York Mag, and NY Post

A lot of critic top ten lists are starting to pour out, so I figured I'd consolidate a little and list all the ones from anything with "New York" in the title into one post.

David Denby of the New Yorker (it's unclear whether these are ordered or not):

David Edelstein of New York Magazine:
  1. Rachel Getting Married
  2. Wall-E
  3. Happy-Go-Lucky
  4. Cadillac Records
  5. The Class
  6. Kit Kittredge: An American Girl
  7. Waltz with Bashir
  8. Shotgun Stories
  9. Doubt
  10. Trouble the Water
...and Lou Lumenik of the NY Post:
  1. Slumdog Millionaire
  2. Wall-E
  3. Milk
  4. A Christmas Tale
  5. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  6. Iron Man
  7. Revolutionary Road
  8. The Visitor
  9. Synecdoche, New York
  10. Waltz with Bashir
Conclusions? Expect indies that nobody's seen like Waltz with Bashir and I've Loved You So Long to pop up on a lot of these lists, but play close attention to the mainstream movies that seem to develop consensus, like Milk and Rachel Getting Married. (Well, not completely mainstream, but you've at least heard of them.)

Don't pay too much attention to Wall-E. Pixar's latest movie almost always lands on numerous critics' top tens, pieces are written about how it should be nominated for Best Picture, and it never is (it instead wins the Best Animated Feature category). Happened for The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, and Ratatouille, and it'll happen for Wall-E, too.
