Let's Tone it Down a Notch, Iran

The media of Iran has misinterpreted a scene from The Wrestler as having "anti-Iranian sentiment," reports the Telegraph.

The scene in questions shows protagonist Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke), a former pro wrestler, performing in a rematch with one of his old adversaries, a wrestler nicknamed "The Ayatollah."

In the film, it's basically a throwaway detail, an example of the silliness of staged pro-wrestling matches, with the wrestlers' personas and supposed vendettas and all of that nonsense. But Iran, perhaps unfamiliar with American pro wrestling, got offended.

The Iranian media also complained that the movie 300 was part of Hollywood's subliminal attack on their nation. Stop trying to pick a fight, guys.
