Heavy Hitter: The Scorsese/DiCaprio 'Shutter Island' Trailer

Seems like we've been talking about this one forever, and it's finally here: Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Williams, Ben Kingsley, Jackie Earle Haley, Patricia Clarkson, Emily Mortimer, Elias Koteas, and Max von Sydow.

The trailer is basically Exhibit A in how to make a really classy, top-tier horror movie. Which wasn't what I was expecting at all. As it's based on a novel by Dennis Lehane, I was assuming it would be more Mystic River and less psychotic head trip.

I'm fascinated to see how this will do at the box office. I'm assuming well; this will be Scorsese's fourth collaboration with DiCaprio, and The Departed and The Aviator both made over a hundred million bucks domestically. (Gangs of New York made $77 million.) But horror movies typically go after young adults, and prestige movies like this one usually go after the fifty-year-olds. I wonder how much Departed-style crossover there will be.
